I wanted to do a post that gives you some groom speech tips and ideas and some of the dos and don’ts when it comes to planning and delivering a bridegroom speech – you’ll thank me for it one day!
When it comes to grooms speeches these top groom wedding speech ideas and tips really helped me to deliver a grooms speech that I hope everyone will remember for a very long time.
Now I don’t want to blow my own horn here, and despite being as nervous as all hell on the day, but I think I managed to pull it off and these speech tips and ideas definitely helped.
Ok, here we go………..
- According to tradition the bridegroom makes the second speech. He responds to the father of the ride speech and proposes his own quick toast to the Bride and Maid of Honor.
- When thanking the Bride and the Maid of Honor don’t forget to tell them how beautiful they both look, especially in their nice dresses. I don’t care if you think the dresses are hideous and you didn’t approve them from the start, just be nice ok!
- The groom is expected to thank anyone who was involved in the preparation, organisation and the setting up of the wedding.
While you’ll want to keep most of your groom wedding speech a secret I strongly suggest you go over the list of who you’re thanking with your future wife before your big day. She’ll point out all those you’ve missed off your speech so you can add them in. Should it become evident after your speech that you did in fact forget to thank someone, you can then blame your wife!
- During your grooms speech make it clear you’re also speaking on behalf of the bride. For instance don’t say “I’d like to thank everyone for coming & cheers for all the presents,” instead say, “We’d like to thank everyone for coming,” or “Kate and I would like to thank everyone for coming & cheers for all the presents.”
That’s is for now – more groom speech tips coming shortly.
